I’m always scouring thrift shops for discarded beads, old jewellery and fabrics but recently I came across the most beautiful tie and had this idea of using it in a necklace.
This piece is the result and I’m super excited by it.
The colours are so gentle and while I worked I felt reminded of a peaceful spring garden filled with pretty flowers, birdsong and dappled sunlight on new leaves.
There is masses of hand embroidery and the lovely little glass beads were one of my Bali finds. They work perfectly with the textiles I’ve used which include linen, silk and a tiny bit of South African Shweshwe.
The necklace fastens at the back of the neck by means of a textile button.
It’s light and uber comfortable.
A very pretty adornment that still makes a wonderful impact.
