April has been a busy month for African Baroque. We were excited to be approached by a new Sydney based online shop “Jewels n Gifts” as we’ve been keen to have a presence in Australia. They’ve ordered an extensive range of our products so our fans downunder will soon find it much easier to get their fix!
At the same time we appeared in the most exquisite online Australian design magazine, a feast of beauty and creativity. The edition is subtitled “The Power of Creativity” and you can find it here. Created and edited by Coty Farquhar whose career began and developed with Vogue Australia and culminated as fashion and beautty editor of New Woman magazine, Australia.
At the same time we started to supply Creative Lux, purveyors of original African designed and handmade art, shoes, jewels & fashion. They are based near Pretoria South Africa on a beautiful farm and the Grand Opening is on 25th May this year. It’s a stunningly beautiful location. Peaceful and surrounded by magnificent wildlife. Engela Hennop has the most amazing eye for beautiful and unusual creations so we are honoured to be represented there. As soon as their website goes live we’ll let you know.
Our challenge is to find ways of increasing production without losing the personal touch. In May we will be looking at training new craftswomen and finding ways of streamlining the admin side of the business.
April really has been very exciting for African Baroque. Despite the rather gloomy economic situation in South Africa, our small business continues to grow both locally and abroad and the future is looking very optimistic.
