Starry Night Necklace

Starry Night is an absolutely stunning piece.  It’s suitable for day or night wear but it is at night that it really comes into it’s own.  The tiny little Japanese seed beads sparkle delicately creating a magical effect.

There are so many details here that contribute to the subtle perfection.  The neck is choker style and embellished with tiny luminous glass two tone seed beads.  I added a tassel at the back to add interest in an often neglected spot, yet one that is so beautiful on women of all ages.

The body of the piece is made up of lots of little “cushions” made in silk and velvet evocative of the midnight sky.  These have been decorated with beads and metallic thread stitching.  I’ve also used metal disc beads from Ghana.  They stand out without being vulgar.

I created several tassels before settling on this generous purple and blue one which offers just enough contrast to add interest without being too distracting.  It’s soft and silky with subtle movement.

Best of all, this palette is one that works with literally everything.  It is truly a winner.
